摘要: The adsorption and reaction of formic acid, HCOOH, on monolayer multilayer palladium supported a Mo(110) surface have been studied using temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). On palladium, acid adsorbs molecularly at 100 K desorbs primarily intact upon heating to 200 K. A small amount the adsorbed in first layer undergoes decomposition form CO, H{sub 2}O 2}. No other intermediates were identified HREELS. In constrast exhibits higher reactivity toward formate species, as verified with However, shows relatively low decomposition. species is stable up 350 an activation preexponential factor for 125 KJ/mol 4.7 x 10{sup 18} respectively. Increasing Pd thickness three layers restores bulk chemistry acid. 42 refs., 8 figs., 2 tabs.
