摘要: Abstract We investigate single ions of 40Ca+ in Paul traps for quantum information processing. Superpositions the S½ electronic ground state and metastable D5/2; are used to implement a qubit. Laser light on ↔ D5/2 transition is manipulation ion's state. apply sideband cooling ion reach vibration with up 99.9% probability. Starting from this Fock (n = 0), we demonstrate coherent manipulation. A large number Rabi oscillations ms-coherence time observed. Motional heating measured be as low one vibrational 190ms. also report two ions.
