摘要: Measurements of the lowest mouth pressures developed during maximum static inspiratory efforts are related to recoil force lung and occasionally influenced by glottic closure. The measurement minimal pleural (P pl min) over entire range capacity eliminates both problems and, in addition, provides a good estimate subject's cooperation. Using this technique, we have investigated muscle 120 healthy adults (60 men, 60 women) aged 21 76 years, 15 children (eight boys, seven girls) 7 13 years. Twelve patients with interstitial disease were studied for comparison. In adults, at any fixed (fractional) volume, P min increased, that is, became less negative advancing age, males females (all r greater than 0.56, p 0.001). This pattern was not modified after correction data pressure chest wall, indicating actually decreases age. age group, volume difference stature, values women between 80 90% found men; moreover generated as low those younger adults. is probably because smaller thorax men therefore able generate pressures, despite weaker muscles. When reduction taken into account, relationship normal disease. These showed close degree restriction increase full inflation, suggesting their normally compliant. It appears these force, least when they an advanced stage
