摘要: This paper first outlines the layout of different in-car components which make up an automatic navigation system. A short overview is then provided SOCRATES (System Cellular Radio for Traffic Efficiency and Safety) project. The method used testing system route guidance in a test site Gothenburg presented discussed. In this test, communications were by analogue cellular radio with fixed set frequencies 4 base stations, because GSM was unavailable. Two systems tested: TavelPilot Cairn. following traffic messages generated Socrates Information Centre (SIC) sent to drivers: a) warnings about congestion, accidents or other hazards, b) details predicted traffic. Although results are not given paper, it said be success, producing reduced travel times decreased driver stress. For covering abstract conference see IRRD 853729.
