摘要: Abstract Inbreeding depression is a phenomenon of long-standing importance, but we know surprisingly little about its genetic architecture, precise effects and life-history dynamics in wild populations. Here, combined 417K imputed SNP genotypes for 5952 Soay sheep with detailed long-term data to explore inbreeding on key fitness component, annual survival. manifests long runs homozygosity (ROH) these are abundant sheep, covering average 24% the autosomal genome up 50% most inbred individuals. The ROH landscape shaped by recombination rate variation differs widely across genome, including islands where 87% population have an deserts prevalence as low 4%. We next quantified individual proportion (FROH) estimated effect consequences severe; 10% increase FROH was associated 68% [95% CI 55-78%] decrease odds However, strength dynamic lifespan. estimate peak young adults, into older ages be weaker lambs, possibly buffered maternal care. Finally, using genome-wide association scan ROH, show that causes predominantly through many loci small effects, also find three regions putatively strongly deleterious mutations. Our study reveals patterns caused sheds light strength, architecture mammal population.
