Performance and emission characteristics of a diesel engine fueled with functionalized multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-OH) and diesel–biodiesel–bioethanol blends

摘要: Abstract Biodiesel is one of the renewable fuels which similar to diesel fuel. fuel has more oxygen than and this leads better combustion thereby, decreases PM, CO, UHC emissions. On other hand, biodiesel a higher viscosity density increases BSFC, NO x smoke One ways solve problem using catalysts in blend as result reduces emissions compared fuels. Carbon nanotubes are nanoparticles due their unique properties such aspect ratio (length-to-diameter​ ratio), mechanical strength high thermal electrical conductivity considered topic interest by researchers. Due hydrophobic surface, carbon tend accumulate. For dispersion solution, surface amended with different functional groups. In study, diesel–biodiesel was prepared 5% 95% diesel. The MWCNTs-OH concentrations 30, 60, 90 ppm were mixed bio-ethanol-based solution at E4 E8. performance recorded engine speeds 1800, 2100, 2400 rpm full load. results showed that, addition additive diesel+biodiesel+ethanol blends (B5+E4 B5+E8) improved torque power decreased BSFC. CO also but emission increased.
