摘要: This paper discusses spatial patterns in small-scale fishing Africa. It is located Lake Victoria where since the 1990s a vibrant Nile perch for overseas export developed. Focusing on very small area Ugandan part of lake, uncovers larger diversity fishermen's responses to dynamic environment sector than widely adopted generic model predicts. To understand this better, looks at social practices fishermen, uncovering operation different, spatially situated, styles. These styles structure relations that fishermen mobilise, symbolic meanings they attach their gear, and values inspire decision-making. By thus looking socio-cultural factors hopes contribute an emerging perspective Africa begins with interest actual practice.
