摘要: Understanding and quantifying the spatio-temporal dynamics of urban growth in Kano Metropolis is necessary to put forward appropriate policies monitoring strategies so as make informed decision. The city has witnessed infrastructural development such low cast housing estates, highways markets, mention a few. This study examines Kano, Nigeria between 1986 2005 using remote sensing technology. Markov chain model was employed predict future land use cover area. Landsat images 1986, 2000 were classified into four classes. Image classification analysis showed rapid built up 13.2% 19.3% an annual rate change 1.51% (1986-2000) 1.24% (2000-2005). period reduction vegetal from 33.9% by year 13.6% 2005. Range recorded occupy average area 56.4% 3 periods together. It also observed that 2015 will follow almost same trend studied with projected (21.70%) total findings. indicated last 19 years increasing size, this have impact on natural environment.
