An analysis of the business characteristics of adopters and non-adopters of World Wide Web technology

摘要: The World Wide Web has received considerable media attention in recent times. Little is known concerning the technology’s appeal for commercial applications, and topic deserves investigation. This study aims to analyze differences between adopter non-adopter businesses according their organizational characteristics. Six characteristics consistently associated with adoption of technology, business size, age, industry, use an IT support unit budget, degree technology experience, are selected from literature. A sample 245 gathered using on-line directories “keyword” searches Web. obtained state telephone directory. The finds a number interesting associations. No significant relationship found size adoption. Adopters tend be younger yet more experienced than non-adopters. Businesses that made budgets units also tended adopters, however did not rely on existence these two factors. The raises additional findings interest but directly related this work. These merit further research.
