摘要: Standard and routine metabolic rates (SMRs RMRs, respectively) of juvenile sandbar sharks (Carcharhinus plumbeus) were measured over a range body sizes (n=34) temperatures normally associated with western Atlantic coastal nursery areas. The mean SMR Q(10) (increase in rate temperature) was 2.9 +/- 0.2. Heart decreased increasing mass but increased temperature at 1.8-2.2. Self-paired measures RMR obtained for 15 individuals. Routine averaged 1.8 0.1 times the not correlated mass. Assuming maximum is 1.8-2.75 (as observed other elasmobranch species), are using between 34% 100% their scope just to sustain continuous activity. This limitation may help explain slow individual population growth rates, as well recoveries from overfishing many shark stocks worldwide.
