摘要: Groundwater influx can significantly contribute to nutrient and carbon budgets of lakes, its influence is the strongest in littoral areas dominated by macrophytes periphyton. We have reviewed effects groundwater-borne nitrogen phosphorus dissolved inorganic organic (DIC, DOC) on these benthic primary producers lakes. develop a hypothesis for groundwater including less studied impacts periphyton shading macrophytes. Groundwater-borne nutrients DIC promote both Direct studies DOC are lacking, but coloured contributes light attenuation thus restrict growth producers. predict that above certain threshold levels groundwater, macrophyte biomass should decline owing phytoplankton periphyton, respectively. However, because their higher requirements, those thresholds be lower For macrophytes, level also predicted shift from limitation limitation. Differences requirements expected result loading declines than
