摘要: Dementia affects over 750,000 people in the UK (Alzheimer’s society, 2003). Clinicians and healthcare managers report dissatisfaction with current options available for dementia (Stubbings & Sharp, 1999). Despite this, no controlled studies conducted to explore efficacy of this intervention on functional performance. This study explores what extent, if any, MSEs influence function, mood behaviour moderate / compared a control activity (gardening). In addition, needs were identified using Adult Sensory Profile whether preferences are associated improved Participants selected from diagnosis dementia. They randomly allocated one two groups (MSE or gardening). Following baseline assessment, each participant attended their 3 times week 4 weeks. Assessment was carried out before after session Motor Process Skills (function) Neurobehavioural Rating Scale (mood behaviour). Results revealed significant main effect both function behaviour. Sessional analysis improvement motor performance MSE group. Overall, activities found improve who group significantly fell within low registration quadrant profile. suggests that is more suitable those require increased stimulation. supports use recommends PAL plan facilitate activity.
