摘要: Euglena gracilis is a well-known photosynthetic microeukaryote considered as the product of secondary endosymbiosis between green alga and phagotrophic unicellular belonging to same eukaryotic phylum parasitic trypanosomatids. As its nuclear genome has proven difficult sequence, reliable transcriptomes are important for functional studies. In this work, we assembled new consensus transcriptome by combining sequencing reads from five independent Based on detailed comparison with two previously released transcriptomes, our appears be most complete so far. Remapping it allowed us compare expression transcripts across multiple culture conditions at once infer functionally annotated network co-expressed genes. Although emergence meaningful gene clusters indicates that some biological signal lies in levels, analyses confirm regulation euglenozoans not primarily controlled transcriptional level. Regarding origin E. gracilis, observe heavily mixed ancestry, reported, rule out sequence contamination possible explanation these observations. Instead, they indicate complex evolved through convoluted process involving much more than partners.
