摘要: The effects of sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a potent hypotensive agent, on cerebral blood flow (CBF) have been extensively studied in clinical and experimental situations but the results remain controversial. Whereas its properties would predict dilatation vessels, most studies report either no change or decrease CBF. aim this study was to investigate SNP CBF, volume (CBV), oxygen metabolism (CMRO2), by means positron emission tomography anaesthetized baboon. Measurements were performed during normotension (mean arterial pressure (MABP): 97+/-16 mm Hg) repeated following SNP-induced hypotension (MABP: 44+/-9 Hg). Sodium led an increase CBF CBV (+30% +37%, respectively, P<0.05), whereas CMRO2 noted. Linear regression analysis values as function MABP confirmed that increases when is reduced SNP. comparison between these cerebrovascular changes those found trimetaphan-induced our previously published further argues for direct dilatatory effect vessels.
