摘要: Lightweight engineered materials are desired for many high-temperature applications in aerospace, power generation, and automotive industries. Recent advances polymer chemistry have resulted several resins that thermally stable at or above 370°C. However, fiber reinforcements necessary to meet the stiffness, strength, service-life requirements, along with methods engineering composites deliver mechanical performance, toughness, durability. This chapter describes fundamental mechanisms, material properties control chemical degradation experimental can characterize durability service life of operating environments. The methods, modeling framework, methodologies through appropriate correlation simulations measurements presented. research described has immediate impact on prediction design oxidation tolerant systems.
