Adaptive one-dimensional dimming technique for liquid crystal displays with low power consumption and high image quality

摘要: An adaptive one-dimensional (1-D) dimming technique for liquid crystal displays that compensates nonuniform backlight distribution is proposed. Dimming techniques do not consider luminance may cause severe visual artifacts, such as a block artifact. However, an 1-D considers can reduce power consumption without causing any artifacts. Hardware implementation results verified our method achieved lower compared to nondimming and removed artifacts from International Electrotechnical Commission 62087 standard images.
