摘要: Group A streptococci (GAS) are gram positive cocci that can be divided into more than 100 M-serotypes or emm types based on their M proteins. Their virulence is related directly to the protein cell surface inhibits phagocytosis. Although it commonly thought of in context causing clinical illness, Streptococcus pyogenes colonize pharynx and skin. Infections due GAS include pharyngitis, impetigo, ecthyma, erysipelas, cellulitis. These infections, as well manifestations invasive disease including streptococcal toxic shock syndrome necrotizing fasciitis, will reviewed this article. Also included nonsuppurative complications acute rheumatic fever post glomerular nephritis. an important cause infections children both ambulatory hospital settings. Current efforts aimed at development a vaccine warranted but remain preliminary stages time.
