摘要: Micro-pillar compression tests were used to study the mechanical behavior of a stainless steel treated by SMAT (Surface Mechanical Attrition Treatment), particularly induced nanocrystalline surface layer. Micro-pillars first machined using Focused Ion Beam (FIB) on cross-section SMATed specimen. They then deformed with flat head mounted nanoindenter. Stress-strain curves obtained for various micro-pillars at different distances from surface. Deformed after examined FEG SEM analyze deformation mechanisms. According stress-strain curves, strength is significantly improved SMAT, and mechanisms material appear be according distance
