摘要: To be effective in high temperature environments, optical fibers require coating materials which maintain their integrity over lifetimes of intended use. Polyimide-based fiber coatings are suitable for temperatures up to 350°C. These fibers, used as embedded sensor elements, would remain undamaged during the cure cycles low composites. enhance utility such an understanding structure/property correlations related adhesion and composite matrix is essential. Several commercially available polyimide coating/glass systems were compared uniform tests. The primary concern was characterization between these surrounding epoxy matrix. Factors considered effect coated versus uncoated performance cured uncured coatings, method pretreatment. Specific analytical techniques determine relationship molecular structure physical properties. Fiber pullout tests performed using a tensile stage attached light microscope. Failure modes verified via infrared microspectrometry (FTIRMA) microscopy.
