摘要: Abstract Monolayers of triaroylbenzene derivatives bearing three octyl groups projecting away from the molecular core and terminated by hydroxyl, carboxylic acid, methyl ester have been studied using surface pressure isotherm measurements Brewster angle microscopy. The derivative lacking a terminal hydrophilic group forms monolayer limited stability. with end-groups on chains form stable monolayers. A reorientation at water under compression ‘face-on’ to distorted ‘edge-on’ arrangement appears likely. At intermediate areas, phase transition occurs aggregate formation is observed. Studies mixtures stearate exhibit contrast inversion between background immiscible domains supporting concept during compression.
