摘要: Grafting of aldehyde structures to single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) has been carried out endow the with appropriate wettability. The results Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, ultraviolin-visible- near (UV-VIS-NIR) and Raman spectroscopy provide sup- porting evidence covalently attached SWNTs. improved wettability aldehyde-functionalized SWNTs (f-SWNTs) was demonstrated by their good dispersion in organic medium, namely, ethanol phenolic resin. prospec- tive covalent bonding between on surfaces f-SWNTs resin makes it possible prepare an integrated composite enhanced-interfacial adhesion. f-SWNT composites, therefore, show much higher average values dr/dWCNT dE/dWCNT (i.e., tensile strength Young's modu- lus per unit weight fraction) compared composites filled pristine or MWNTs. respective maxima are 9680 MPa 320 GPa. It is thus feasible for moderately enhanced but lightweight composites. Furthermore, incorporation does not limit application as insulation material. V C 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
