摘要: Iron deficiency is the most common and widespread nutritional disorder in world, affecting millions of people both nonindustrialized industrialized countries. We estimated costs, effects, cost-effectiveness iron supplementation fortification interventions 4 regions world. The effects on population health were arrived at by using a model designed to estimate lifelong impact or individuals benefiting from such interventions. took into consideration effectiveness, patient adherence, geographic coverage. Costs based primary data collection review literature. At 95% coverage, has larger than fortification. would avert <12,500 disability adjusted life years (DALY) annually European subregion, with very low rates adult child mortality, almost 2.5 million DALYs African Southeast Asian subregions, high mortality. On other hand, less costly appears be more cost effective supplementation, regardless coverage conclude that economically attractive supplementation. However, spending extra resources implement still cost-effective option. results should interpreted caution, because evidence intervention effectiveness predominantly relates small-scale efficacy trials, which may not reflect actual effect under expected conditions.
