摘要: Vivek Khatri, PhD University of Pittsburgh, 2005 In the mammalian brain, thalamocortical circuits perform initial stage processing before information is sent to higher levels cerebral cortex. Substantial changes in receptive field properties are produced response transformation. whisker-to-barrel pathway, magnitude barrel excitatory cells sensitive velocity whisker deflections, whereas thalamus, only encoded by firing synchrony. The behavior this circuit can be captured a model which contains window opportunity for thalamic synchrony engage intra-barrel recurrent excitation being ‘damped’ slightly delayed, but strong, local feedforward inhibition. Some remaining aspects that require investigation are: (1) how does adaptation with ongoing and repetitive sensory stimulation affect (2) what rules governing interactions. By examining barreloids cortical barrels, after high-frequency stimulation, I have determined modifies operations without fundamentally changing it. non-adapted state, velocities produce larger responses than lower velocities. Similarly, adapted barrel, putative inhibitory neurons respond temporal iv
