摘要: Abstract Experimental investigations were carried out to determine the low-velocity impact behaviour of carbon fibre composites with novel liquid Methylmethacrylate (MMA) thermoplastic matrix, Elium®. The load, deflection and energy attributes under are studied in detail baseline comparison is epoxy matrix . quasi-isotropic non-crimp fabric (NCCF) laminates impacted at 25 J, 42 J 52 J energies material response both composite configurations studied. have shown less catastrophic damage a high level (52 J) around 10% higher peak load was observed. Structural integrity as measured from load-deflection curve demonstrated up 53% increase for Thin NCCF Elium compared their counterpart matrix. Significant absorption (56%) before onset major failure mostly through elastic-plastic deformations observed thin Elium® composite. Impact results different showed strain sensitivity microstructure improved performance increasing energy. From detailed fracture analysis samples, mechanisms deduced
