摘要: Abstract We report use of thin films the nematic liquid crystal E7 supported on chemically functionalized surfaces to indicate presence vapors organophosphorous nerve agents sarin (GB), soman (GD), tabun (GA) and VX. The were prepared by deposition metal perchlorate salts onto carboxylic acid-terminated self-assembled monolayers. When using from aluminum salts, film underwent a transition perpendicular orientation tilted or planar upon exposure GB, GD, GA VX generated small drop agent placed piece filter paper. orientational was readily apparent as an optical signal that visible naked eye. VX, which has lowest vapor pressure these (∼140 ppb), reported within 60 s. GA, have higher pressures, triggered responses in evident 15 s, 60 s, respectively. By preparing aluminum(III), zinc(II) iron(III) it possible distinguish between either GD thus demonstrating feasibility designing patterned with detect positively identify chemical warfare agents.
