摘要: Dementia is a progressive disease in which patients lose their ability to decide and communicate. Advance directives (AD) allow express preferences on end of life care the early stages disease. Primary practitioners (PCP) are best position promote AD. The aim this study was elicit PCPs views about discussion AD with stage dementia patients. A qualitative approach taken, focus groups individual interviews elderly patients' from Hospital italiano de buenos aires were conducted. purposive sampling performed, conforming homogeneous according age seniority. stimulated by vignette. We performed thematic content analysis an interdisciplinary team. Twelve = 30 year age, 32 middle-aged 8 over 45 years participated study. youngest group favored while those regarded family as decision maker, thus, useless. Besides, they expressed that our society not mature enough discuss Difficulties implementation, predicting evolution patient's disease, span time between lack legislation specific institutional policies other factors conditioned discussion.
