摘要: Fluctuating asymmetry (FA) and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) are frequently studied physical attractiveness variables in social evolutionary psychology. FA represents deviations bilateral symmetry—differences between left right body parts. WHR is the of smallest part waist to largest hips. Although important mate preference criteria, research has not examined their joint influence on attraction. Thus, 140 heterosexual male undergraduates ranked—and 118 rated—the 10 photographs rear-facing nude women. Women’s were negatively related separately, after controlling for each other mass index (BMI). An × interaction emerged, such that men’s preferences lower WHRs increased as decreased, even BMI. affected ways consistent with information they carry its likely effects offspring quality.
