摘要: Schizophrenia has been associated with reduced volumes of subcortical structures on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), but the relation these reductions to familial risk for disorder is unclear. We investigated effect schizophrenia regional during adolescence, a period marked by steep maturational changes in brain structure and emergence psychotic symptoms. A group 26 non-help-seeking, first-degree relatives patients 43 matched healthy comparisons, between 9 18 years age, underwent MRI scanning were rated presence prodromal Five regions-of-interest tested differences age interactions, as well correlations low-level symptoms group. Relative subjects demonstrated greater positive volume–age relationships hippocampus, putamen, globus pallidus. These results suggest that individuals exhibit structural abnormalities subcortex early pre-adolescence, which may reflect altered neurodevelopment regions.
