摘要: The outcome of an early intervention program for low-birthweight (LBW) infants was examined in this study. consisted 11 sessions beginning during the final week hospitalization and extending into home over a 3-month period. aimed to facilitate maternal adjustment care LBW infant indirectly enhance childs development. Neonates weighing less than 2200 grams under 37 weeks gestational age were randomly assigned experimental or control analysis dyads who completed all assessments 4-year period (Ns = 25 29 28 NBW infant-mother dyads) showed that group mothers reported significantly greater self-confidence satisfaction with mothering as well more favorable perception temperament mothers. A progressive divergence between children on cognitive scores culminated significant differences McCarthy GCI at ages 36 48 months when caught up group. Possible explanations observed delay emergence effects development mediating role mother-infant transactional patterns are discussed light recent evidence from literature.
