摘要: This chapter presents a short history of forest policy studies, with the aim situating practice based approach this book. Forest studies emerged as sub-discipline within forestry science in mid-20th century. Its early focus was strongly influenced by traditional science, but since then it has evolved. The first explores basic characteristics that prevailed when analysis emerged, and identifies disciplinary matrix underlying conventional science. next sections describe how studies’ normative view on professional changed into an analytical perspective governance processes, critical practices recently been added to discipline’s repertoire. During process, conceptualisation ‘forestry practitioner’ gradually widened from foresters include both makers laymen practitioners. Concomitantly, role scientists changed, (1) advising foresters, (2) explaining dynamics, (3) reflecting upon social scientists, alike.
