摘要: There is strong evidence that the immune response to Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) contributes pathogenesis of Lyme disease. Bb are transmitted by ticks skin, which particularly rich in dendritic cells (DC). The initial reaction these APCs may already set course pathogenesis. To study role DC, biopsies from human skin were incubated with and investigated toto electron microscopy. In addition, DC freshly isolated dermis (DDC) epidermis (Langerhans cells) compared blood-derived (BDC). situ, found dermal layer only, occasionally cleared DDC. Isolated DDC BDC, but not Langerhans cells, readily engulfed preferentially using coiling phagocytosis. Internalized located free cytosol inside phagolysosomes BDC. Intravesicular Ags colocalized MHC class II molecules. live induced IL-12 production Bb-pulsed BDC activated naive primed autologous Bb-specific T as measured detection granulocyte-macrophage CSF gene transcription proliferative response, respectively. These data indicate phagocytose, process, present Ags. way influence disease, however, remains be evaluated.
