摘要: Biopolymers have found applications in various biomedical fi elds such as implantation of medical devices and artifi cial organs, tissue engineering, prostheses, ophthalmology, dentistry, bone repair, drug delivery systems due to their intrinsic properties like biocompatibility biodegradability. Polysaccharides, a group natural polymers, are extremely bioactive, biocompatible, non-toxic, less expensive, biodegradable, freely available, thus hold advantages over the synthetic polymers. Polysaccharide-based microparticles gained much attention developing controlled-release microparticulate because fl exibility obtaining desirable release profi le, cost effectiveness, ease modifi cation by simple chemical reactions for specifi c applications, broad range physicochemical properties, regulatory acceptance. This entry also discusses important synthesis process polysaccharide-based nanoparticles latest delivery.
