摘要: AIM To describe the imaging features of retroperitoneal and pelvic schwannomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS The presenting cross-sectional for 18 sequential patients with or schwannomas was reviewed retrospectively. Note made tumour diameter, position, homogeneity, margin, shape, calcification invasion into adjacent structures. Where MRI had been performed, T1 T2 signal intensity relative to skeletal muscle, degree pattern enhancement gadolinium, were also assessed. RESULTS Imaging from 13 available review. mean diameter 8.7 cm (range 4 15 cm); 9 located in pelvis retroperitoneum; 12 cases showed smooth, regular margins 1 case irregular, invasive margins. tumours homogeneous 5 heterogeneous cystic change 8; 2 there smooth expansion a sacral nerve root exit foramen, bony destruction sacrum extension spinal canal. In performed; on T1-weighted images all isointense; T2-weighted hyperintense isointense muscle. diagnosis confirmed by core biopsy. CONCLUSION Retroperitoneal typically form large, well-circumscribed masses retroperitoneum presacral area, frequently undergo degeneration. They can occasionally cause changes spine, but otherwise do not invade obstruct Although they are rare, it is important radiologist recognize typical appearance because be mistaken malignant tumours.
