摘要: The iron mass in galaxy clusters is about 6 times larger than could have been produced by core-collapse SNe, assuming the stars cluster galaxies formed with a standard IMF. Type-Ia SNe proposed as alternative dominant source. We use our HST measurements of SN-Ia rate at high redshift to study enrichment scenario. can constrain star-formation epoch and progenitor models via mean delay time between formation stellar population explosion some its members SNe-Ia. low observed SNe-Ia z ∼ 1 pushes back > 2, implies short time. also show related analysis for high-z field which implies, under conditions, long Thus, from top-heavy IMF may remain only viable option.
