摘要: Background—Carriers of the apolipoprotein A-IMilano (apoA-IM) mutant present with very low plasma HDL cholesterol and moderate hypertriglyceridemia, apparently not leading to premature coronary heart disease. The objective this study was establish whether high-risk lipid/lipoprotein profile is associated structural changes in carotid arteries heart, indicative preclinical atherosclerosis. Methods Results—Twenty-one A-IM carriers were compared age- sex-matched control subjects from same kindred 2 series matched primary hypoalphalipoproteinemia (HA). Structural defined as intima-media thickness (IMT) measured by B-mode ultrasound.
