摘要: AIMS High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is a chromatin structural protein, expressed ubiquitously in the nuclei of mammalian cells. When transported extracellularly, it acts as tumour suppressor and oncogenic protein. In malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), high serum levels HMGB1 have been related to poor prognosis. Conversely, significance expression MPM tissues still unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS Biopsy samples from 170 patients with were assessed by immunohistochemistry reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) evaluate protein gene expression. The level was scored using semiquantitative system that sums intensity (0-3) percentage (from 0 4) positively stained cells nuclei, cytoplasm both. final score considered (>3) or low (<3) Gene calculated ΔΔCt method. total (P = 0.0011) cytoplasmic 0.0462) worse disease-specific survival (DSS) entire cohort clinicopathological subgroups. No significant correlation found between DSS. CONCLUSIONS These findings indicate may be useful prognostic biomarker when detected immunohistochemistry. also normal reactive mesothelial cells, cannot diagnostic histological mesothelioma.
