摘要: The proportion of large particles (LP) broken down to small, insoluble by primary mastication (eating), rumination, digestion and detrition (rubbing) was determined for separated leaf stem fractions perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) alfalfa (Medicago sativa) fed cattle cannulated at the esophagus. Large were defined as those retained during wet sieving on a screen with an aperture 1.18 mm. Reduction in weight caused solubilizing or not considered be particle breakdown per se, corrected this loss weight. LP forage 25 +/- 1.9% (means SE). Breakdown rumination calculated from total regurgitated swallowed remasticated material. dry matter lost using lignin ratio entering rumen digesta. Rumination accounted 50 1.5% breakdown. Fecal 8 .8% forage. 17 1.3% difference between eaten mastication, passing out feces. significance these results predicting voluntary intake laboratory analysis is considered.
