On the interaction of nuclear spins in a crystalline lattice

摘要: Abstract The exchange of energy between a system nuclear spins, immersed in strong magnetic field H o , and the lattice vibrations insulating crystals has been investigated experimentally by method resonance absorption. calciumfluoride, some hydrated sulphates alkalihalides, observed 300°K 1°K, at 30.5 9.5 Mc/sec. measured spin-lattice relaxation times T 1 range from 10 −3 to 4 sec, disagree violenty — many cases more than factor 6 with Waller's theory paramagnetic relaxation. It is shown that time determined impurities occurring lattice. An order magnitude developed taking these into account. quanta absorbed spins external radiofrequeney diffuse toward impurities. then transferred via fluctuating impurity. first process depends on concentration impurities, second ϱ experimental data receive least qualitative explanation terms quantities. In direct heat contact impurity proves be important. Then i independent temperature.
