摘要: This paper uses a rich longitudinal dataset to examine the relationship between teen fertility and both subsequent educational outcomes mortality risk in rural South Africa. Human capital deficits among mothers are large significant, with earlier births associated greater deficits. In contrast many other studies, we find no clear evidence of selectivity into childbearing either schooling trajectories or pre-fertility household characteristics. Enrolment rates only begin drop period immediately preceding birth future not behind their relative girls. Older those further ahead school for age pre-birth more likely continue after birth. Following women over six year document higher before 30 that cannot be explained by characteristics early adulthood.
