摘要: Atherosclerosis and its complications are associated with high morbidity mortality in the elderly. One of these is abdominal aortic aneurysm which may be prevented from rupturing if diagnosed early. Screening for was carried out Jeddah, western region Saudi Arabia, to identify magnitude this problem. Three groups were studied: patients hypertension (n = 101), peripheral vascular disease 71) a third group controls 220). The mean (range) age whole sample 66.0 (60-80) years. Evidence found seven participants: five (7.0%), one hypertensive (1.0%) (0.5%). In view expected increase elderly population as result improvements health care have recently been achieved, it that similar incidence occur. Routine screening elderly, especially those disease, worthwhile.
