摘要: The aim of this study was to link the biotechnological advances made in arid lands, which are known as “brown biotechnology,” current environmental challenges facing these regions, their ecosystems and inhabitants. We present a broad compilation scientific evidence technological developed over past 15 years that have helped address some classical constraints environments, such development sustainable agriculture areas limited by water resources low levels organic matter soils, including relevant organisms interactions with biotic abiotic stressors. New new opportunities related production energy, versatile crops, phytoremediation, biofertilization, desalination, incorporation genes into plants improve resistance scarcity obtain biomolecules from living hostile environments also presented. To face constant recently extreme changes climate worrisome natural successfully, issues need be resolved short medium terms described here.
