摘要: Abstract This paper presents the R package BioFTF, which is a tool for statistical biodiversity assessment in functional data analysis framework. Diversity key topic many research fields; however, literature, it demonstrated that existing indices do not capture different aspects of this concept. Thus, main drawback indicators may lead to orderings among communities according their biodiversity. A possible method evaluate consists using diversity profiles are curves depending on specific parameter. In setting, adopt some instruments proposed such as first and second derivatives, curvature, radius curvature arc length. Specifically, derivatives (or curvature) highlight any peculiar behaviour profiles, whereas length helps ranking curves, given richness. Because these solve issue with numbers species, we propose an important methodological contribution introduces surface area. Indeed, scalar measure reflects information provided by profile allows ordering However, approach requires mathematical skills average user have; thus, our idea provide user-friendly both non-statistician statistician practitioners context.
