摘要: Bacterial resistance to present day antibiotics has become a dangerous threat public health. Consequently, the pharmaceutical industry must provide new agents and novel classes combat bacterial disease stay step ahead of rapid evolution mechanisms. The need for antibacterials resulted in search previously unexplored targets chemotherapy, utilising techniques genomics identify them. Several currently under investigation are involved process virulence. These unique that their inhibition, by definition, should interfere with infection rather than viability. If successful, virulence inhibition may represent ‘kinder, gentler’ approach chemotherapy which pathogen is disarmed killed outright.
