摘要: SUMMARY The multi-temporal and spatial scale interaction of history, geography, evolution are responsible for Colombia’s extreme diversity. In spite a partially comprehensive protected area system, much the ter-ritory remains exposed to negative impacts development ecosystem transformation. Colom-bian biodiversity in twenty-first century, addition consolidating conventional conservation strategies, must face up emerging new challenges deriving from: (a) vulnerability montane fragmentation climate change; (b) transforma-tion contamination natural seminatural ecosystems by large-scale mining activities; (c) dis-placement its large cattle industry from more appropriate savannas eastern plains Carib-bean plains, replacing dry forest with savannas, while turning original into high-intensity agri-cultural monocultures; (d) consolidation regime extensive communal lands Choco Amazon regions, incorporating marine territory plans.
