Impact of landfill leachate on the groundwater quality: A case study in Egypt

摘要: Alexandria Governorate contracted an international company in the field of municipal solid waste management for collection, transport and disposal waste. Construction operation sanitary landfill sites were also included contract safe final To evaluate environmental impacts associated with landfilling, leachate groundwater quality near landfills analyzed. The results physico-chemical analyses confirmed that its characteristics highly variable severe contamination organics, salts heavy metals. BOD5/COD ratio (0.69) indicated was biodegradable un-stabilized. It found vicinity did not have contamination, although certain parameters exceeded WHO EPA limits. These conductivity, total dissolved solids, chlorides, sulfates, Mn Fe. suggested need adjusting factors enhancing anaerobic biodegradation lead to stabilization addition continuous monitoring treatment processes.
