Climate change and sustainable tourism: Carbon mitigation by environmentally certified tourism enterprises

摘要: Tourism is susceptible to the impacts of climate change on destinations and businesses, but also contributes causes via greenhouse gas emissions from travel. This article reports carbon mitigation actions by environmentally certified tourism enterprises in Queensland, Australia. The survey results profile attitudes change, auditing, actions, motives for reduction. study revealed that most operators believed was an important issue had implemented a range energy, water, waste popular were energy efficiency reducing use, while less measures adopting renewable offsetting. preferred lower cost easy implement would provide savings. key implementing these related ecological responsibility business competitiveness savings differentiating their as 'climate friendly'. These motivations align with general principles driving implementation socially responsible practices companies. findings suggest now consider reduction be integral part sustainable development.
