摘要: The changes in the structure and morphology of a random copolymer containing 92 mol % glycolide units 8 lactide as function vitro hydrolysis have been studied. A number techniques, such wide-angle x-ray diffraction, small-angle scattering, density measurements, infrared spectroscopy, viscometry were employed this study. results showed that hydrolytic attack was initiated amorphous areas polymer. After 28 days medium most had chemically converted to lower-molecular-weight species oligomers poly(glycolide-co-lactide). These low-molecular-weight become water solble are removed rapidly after day 28. Thus fiber takes on Swiss cheese character matter is hydrolyzed eventually dissolved. As proceeds further, crystalline polymer attacked from by solubilization. resulting voids filled “collapse” structure. role controlling tensile strength suture discussed.
