摘要: Systems of justice based on lay juries are meant to ensure a close link between the law and community it serves: jurors represent values these fed back into legal system. However, can only arrive at legally fair decisions if they have managed understand apply relating case. Yet systems in common countries paid scant attention whether instructions delivered by judge actually conveyed effectively jury. This chapter considers process jury instruction from linguistic communicational perspectives. It draws key distinction ‘jury instructions’, or texts produced judicial committees judges, instruction’, communicating relevant specific context specifictrial. While comprehension be improved rewriting them plain English, overall requires much more radical revision we want that will bring true just verdicts which reflect both community.
