摘要: Aberrant glycosylation of tumor cells is recognized as a universal hallmark cancer pathogenesis. Overexpression fucosylated epitopes, such type I (H1, Lewisa, Lewisb, and sialyl Lewisa) II (H2, Lewisx, Lewisy, Lewisx) Lewis antigens, frequently occurs on the cell surface mainly attributed to upregulated expression pertinent fucosyltransferases (FUTs). Nevertheless, impact fucose-containing moieties biology not fully elucidated yet. Here, we review relevance tumor-overexpressed FUTs their respective synthesized determinants in critical aspects associated with progression, increased survival proliferation, tissue invasion metastasis, epithelial [corrected] mesenchymal transition, endothelial immune interaction, angiogenesis, multidrug resistance, stemness. Furthermore, discuss potential use enhanced levels fucosylation glycan biomarkers for early prognosis, diagnosis, disease monitoring patients.
