摘要: Human activities have considerable impact on the upper 300 m of sediments earth. Conflicting in highly populated areas involving groundwater exploitation, aggregate extraction, and hazardous chemical-related production storage induce stress environment. Nearly half population living around Great Lakes depends shallow aquifers. A coalition four states (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio), conjunction with U. S. Geological Survey, has initiated a program to map this sensitive 300-m layer. As part effort, Illinois State Survey (ISGS) undertaken task preparing 3D quadrangle maps 100 entire state at scale 1:24 000.
